COUNSELLING FOR ADULTS IN WILLIAMS LANDING
IFS - Internal Family Systems

What Is IFS?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) views the mind as made up of different “parts,” each with its own role and intention. Some parts protect us, some carry emotional pain, and all are trying to help in some way.

IFS is a compassionate approach that helps build understanding and balance within yourself.

How I Use IFS-Informed Therapy

IFS-informed work supports you to become curious about inner experiences rather than critical or overwhelmed by them.
In sessions, this may involve:
-
Identifying different parts of yourself (such as anxious, protective, or self-critical parts)
-
Understanding the role each part plays
-
Reducing internal conflict and self-blame
-
Strengthening a sense of calm, grounded self-leadership
-
Supporting parts to relax when they no longer need to work so hard

The approach is respectful, non-pathologising, and deeply compassionate.

When IFS Can Help

IFS can be helpful if you:
-
Feel torn or conflicted internally
-
Experience strong inner criticism
-
Feel overwhelmed by emotional reactions
-
Want greater self-understanding and self-compassion
-
Notice repeating emotional or behavioural patterns

The goal is greater internal balance, clarity, and emotional ease.
